The web site GermanAmericanPioneers.org has been developed by Maria and Walter Brand. Maria has gathered an extensive history of the activities of German American Pioneers in the region now known as Silicon Valley (the City of San Jose, CA and the surrounding Santa Clara Valley).

My husband of 45 years passed away

(How we have learned recently)

To all my faithful readers. I am going into the Hospital for back surgery on July first.

I am in no position to make a new Newsletter.

I wish you well. Hopefully, I will be back next month.

All the best and wish me luck.

Maria

Newsletter for Jun,July &August 2009

This month I gathered Information about the state of Ohio. I learned that even to this day

30 % of the population claims to be of German descent. Ohio, Wisconsin and Missouri composed the German Triangle. Driving through these states one sees German names on bill boards, store fronts, street names etc. The cities of Cincinnati, Milwaukee and St Louis have much German style architecture.

This month I like to highlight Ohio and the cities of Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus. Let’s see what we can find out.

Have fun.

Sincerely Maria
